A mini scenario to get the writers block outta me ://

It wasn't often that you got to bake. Being busy with the overblots, school work, and Grim usually took most of your time. That left you only with the nights. The deep darkness that relaxed your spirit and feelings. It was the only time you could truly let go and be yourself.

You wiped some frosting off your face, taking in the sight of the beautiful chocolate cake you had just created with a smile.

What you didn't expect however, in the middle of your peaceful night, was for a certain first year to walk into Ramshackle...

“Mmm! That looks good!” A cheerful voice suddenly spoke from behind, snatching away the fork from your hand. A sigh left your lips, You didn’t even need to turn to know who was behind you. It hadn’t been the first time he’d interrupted you, and you’d doubted it’d be the last. “Ace. give me back my cake."

The heartslaybul boy just laughed, bringing the slice of chocolate to his stupidly smirking lips. “But I'm so hungry after basketball. Plus, we won! Don’t you think I deserve a treat for my hard work?” He teased, batting his eyelashes.

You sighed, nudging him away from your perfectly good cake, “Not really. If you're that hungry go eat Grim.” Ace stumbled back, pouting, yet a smile soon slithered on to his face.

“Ew no. He probably tastes like salted burnt rocks.”

You snorted at that. An ugly one.

It was quiet after that, silence soon enveloping the kitchen as you went back to your work. Too silent. You looked back at the boy, a smile forming on your lips as you watched him. He looked pretty resting on the kitchen counter. The moon casted a blue glow down his pretty face, making the heart around his eye appear to be a black color. His eyelashes seemed longer than usual, dusting over his cheeks all pretty like.

God it was so unfair how pretty this man was.

You sighed to yourself, Maybe you could spare a piece of cake for your pretty boy.

“Hey Ace, come eat this.”

His eyes fluttered open as you walked toward him, holding a small white plate in your hands. “Hm, what’s that?”

“Strawberry shortcake.” He stood up eyeing the piece of white and pink cake. You grabbed the fork, bringing it to his lips. “Say ahh.”

He laughed, opening his mouth in anticipation as you smiled. He chewed the spongy cake, eyes opening in surprise as he licked some of the cream off his lips. “Mmh, This is really good!”

“Heh, thank you. Like it?” The smile on your face grew as he nodded his head, a grin on his lips as his mouth opened once more for another bite.

You pushed the plate into him playfully, "Feed yourself!”

He grabbed your hand, whining with a pout on his face. “Awh, common prefect, my hands are too tired to work.” You just sighed, rolling your eyes at him. He responded with puppy eyes too much for you to handle. “Ugh fine… only a few bites though.”

"Ah! Sorry, am I interrupting you?" A nervous voice spoke. You chuckled softly to yourself, already knowing who was there. Turning around, you were greeted by the face of Deuce Spade, a small, yet nervous smile on his face. "Sorry prefect, I didn't mean to barge in here haha.."

He held up a few bags in his hand, holding some baking supplies that Trey gave, along with some eggs from Sam's shop. He placed them on a clean side of the counter, slowly and discreetly (trying) to shuffle out of the kitchen. However, you could see how he was eyeing the chocolate cake you just made.

You laughed, taking his hands in yours as you dragged him back inside the room. "Don't worry, you can stay, want some cake?"

He flushed, embarrassed to be caught staring at the sweet treat. "No, I’m alright, thanks tho.” Another giggle escaped your lips, it was obvious he was feeling bad for even wanting some, knowing that you made them just for you to enjoy. You didn’t mind sharing with him, but you doubt he would listen.

“If you’d like, we could make another one together, it’d be fun!" You pulled him further into the kitchen, "besides, I have the perfect recipe."

You watched as Deuce flushed red, yet he made no move to get away. You gave him a sheet of paper, a recipe to your favorite strawberry shortcake. "Here, I'll show you how to make the batter, and you can mix it for me." He seemed oddly enthusiastic about that.

He followed your instructions perfectly, cracking the eggs a certain way, adding just the right amount of flour and vanilla extract. It was kind of funny seeing him so worked up over beating some eggs, he was mixing the batter like nobody's business! It caused you to laugh, until the batter started fling all over Ramshackles kitchen.

The two of you finally finished the mini cake, decorating it with little strawberries and fancy frosting. "Wow, this looks amazing!" He spoke breathlessly, stars in his eyes as he admired your work.

You took a fork full of the sweet treat, placing it in front of Deuce's mouth. It took a second for him to register it, but once he did, his face bloomed red. A giggle left your lips as you waved it around his face, "Come on, say ahh."

He took your hand in his, placing the cake in his mouth. His eyes sparkled in delight, and soon you were giving him another slice.

"Heh, I'm glad you both liked it."

ive been working on this since i figured out he existed which was like twelve hours ago LMAO so this. is barely edited but its SOMETHING.

There’s a new barista working at Sam’s today.

You find yourself giving him the side eye more times than you can count, baffled that someone as bright and cheery as him could have found a place in this school. Of course, people like Deuce and Jack come to mind when you find yourself contemplating the goodness of your school, but this new kid, Mito Yuuta, is an enigma.

He supposedly came from a different world, crashed your orientation, and now works at Sam’s new cafe joint to support him and his little monster cat companion, Grim. And while he’s never personally taken any of your orders, you find yourself wondering if he knows what you like. Does such an extraordinary student even have the time to memorize orders? Or is he just barely making it through his job?

Pressing your hand over your mouth to stifle a yawn. you finally make your way up to the cash register and rattle off a sleepy good evening.

“Good evening!” he smiles, eyes bright and voice light. It reminds you of the fluffy croissants in the display case right next to you, “What can I get for you?”

You recite your usual, watching as he eagerly writes it down. Your eyes flicker between his messy handwriting and his face, scrunched up in concentration. He sticks his tongue out a little as he writes. Cute.

“Thank you.” you offer him a polite smile as you hand him the adequate amount of thaumarks.

You slip away from the counter as he prepares your drink, humming a tune as he works. It doesn’t seem to be from any song in particular, but rather a tune made up of various different genres and songs. You wonder what kind of music he has back home, and if he misses any of it. It must be hard for him, to live in such an unfamiliar world without any of his friends or family. It’s hard on first years like you, even without being transported to a different world (you distinctly remember crying when your hometown sent you away with a small celebration) but he seemed to be handling it just fine.

Bitterness strikes your heart when you remember that Crowley is likely the one taking care of him, being the Headmage and all. You look down at your dorm armband and feel your lips twist into a scowl when you think about the lack of a band on his arm. Does he feel isolated at all? It isn’t like the students at NRC to do favors, and you can only imagine how rough it’s been to connect with his fellow students.

He calls your name in a sing-songy tone, snapping you out of your thoughts. You step up to the counter again, taking your drink from him with a tired smile. Your other hand freezes as it brushes against the bag he’s carrying, its contents warm.

“I didn’t order any food.” you say quietly, furrowing your brow at him.

As if on cue, your stomach howls with hunger. Yuuta smiles at you and pushes the bag into your hands.

“But you need some. You’re up late studying, right?” he says softly, insistently, “It’s...important to get the starting principles of Professor Trein’s class before he takes off without you.”

Oh.

He’s perceptive. Slowly, you take the bag from his hand, eyeing him suspiciously. He doesn’t seem shaken by your stare, he only coaxes you to take it with a small nod.

“I’m paying for this too.” you say slowly, setting the bag on the counter and reaching for your wallet.

“No! Don’t. I won’t accept it.” he shakes his head adamantly, “You need to make sure you’re taking care of your body if you want to focus on your work!”

“I can’t owe you something though. Just let me pay for it.” you insist, grabbing a few thaumarks and shoving them across the counter.

He takes one look at the mound of money and gently pushes it back toward you. You narrow your eyes at him and push it back. He slides it back to you in turn. Your lips twist into a scowl.

Why won’t he just give up already?

“Please just take it. I promise I’m not trying to get you to owe me anything.” he pleads, placing a gentle hand on top of yours as you try to push the money toward him again.

“...Fine.” you relent, and the smile on his face almost makes your sour defeat worth it.

“Thank you so much!” he pats your hand, the warmth of his palm leaving all too soon, “Please enjoy it, I made it myself!! So don’t worry about me getting in trouble for handing out free food from Sam’s inventory.”

Is that what he thought you were worried about? You furrow your brow as you pick up your thaumarks, stuffing them back into your wallet. His humming fills the silence again, and when you rush to grab your stuff and leave, you can see him swinging his hips as he scrubs down the counter. You stop and watch for a few moments, trying to piece him together like a puzzle.

Does he draw the strength to continue every day through kindness? It doesn’t seem like he means bad by anything he does. He certainly didn’t try to swindle you into any debt. In fact, he did the exact opposite.

“Do you want me to walk you back to your dorm?” Yuuta asks, staring straight at you.

“Oh—! No, I’m okay. I just zoned out.” you mumble, hiding your face behind your drink as you take a sip.

“I totally can though! I was just about to close up anyways.” he laughs, turning on his heel and wiping down the front counter.

You eye the door and gnaw at your bottom lip when you see that the store doesn’t close for another ten minutes. Despite knowing the time that's left in his work day, you say nothing.

You’ll owe him again.

And yet, as he turns off the store lights, locks the door behind you two, and leads you into the crisp chill of the night, you find that you don’t mind as much as you should.

you giggled, playing with the hair at the base of his neck, "i was just keeping jamil company.. do you want me to come out with you?". he just shook his head, leaning forward to lean on your chest as he spoke, "nah, i know you guys like the quiet.. id like to see you afterwards though.. you look very nice". you knew he was being a little extra clingy cause you were showing more skin today.. it was nice though.

he placed a kiss to your knuckles, keeping eye contact with you as he left a small red mark behind on your hand, "would it be that much of a shame to miss this event..". you looked at him unimpressed, leaning up to peck his cheek, "yes, yes it will.. and your manager will kill me" you attempted to reason with him as you turned away.

before you could get far you felt his grab your wrist, puling you back into his chest. his fingers brushed under your chin, making your eyes meet his, "we can be a little late though" you rolled your eyes while smiling, giving into him, "fine.. a little late." you mumbled before pushing your lips to his.. (yall got yelled at so bad for being 30min late)

he smiled softly, his hands resting on your waist, "only the best for you beloved.. you look perfect". you smiled up at him, resting your head on his chest as you hugged him.

after your thanks were over he moved you guys to the blanket, sitting across from each other. you went back and forth trying the different foods he brought and talking about your guys weeks. as you were talking about your potions class with silver you noticed his eyes continue to wander between your eyes and chest.. you leaned forward and waved a hand in front of his eyes lightly, "you ok? you seem.. out of it", you let your hand fall to hold his in his lap.

Ace hates that grim was your friend before him, feeling annoyed whenever he bullied (Juice) Deuce about being friends with you before him only for grim to butt in. Ace isn't too annoyed with grim though, and grim thinks that Ace is one of the better choises of the roster you have, they're both friends after all.

Of course most students in the cast don't liek "sharing" you with grim, especially the more territorial ones. Leona is probably the worst, I mean come on they're both feline looking creatures. With scent being a heavy thing for felines (yes even beastmen dont come at me) Leona is not happy to have his scent on you be muddied by the little rodent (the greatest mage of all, grim). Deuce scowled back at Ace. “Shut up! I’m taking the opportunity to work harder and improve myself!”

“Yeah, yeah. Good luck with makin’ things harder for yourself.”

Deuce looked like he was going to argue more, but was interrupted by the sound of his stomach gurgling. Ace laughed at him, earning him another glare from Deuce. 

Epel also couldn’t help but laugh quietly. “Deuce, I still have some apple chips in my room, if you want some?”

Deuce’s scowling face immediately softened as he turned towards Epel. “Oh, uh, are you sure? I don’t wanna take your food…”

“It’s alright! I have plenty to share,” Epel gave Deuce an earnest smile as he stood. “I have a lot of extra juice still, too, if you want me to grab you some?”

Deuce got to his feet as well. “No, that’s okay; you don’t have to carry it all by yourself. I’ll come with you!”

“Bring me back some juice!” Ace said as he gave Deuce’s leg a gentle kick. 

“Get it yourself, Ace!” Deuce responded as he quickly hurried towards the stairs. 

“Nooo, but I’m tiiiiired!” Ace complained from where he remained on the floor. 

Epel laughed as he ran after Deuce up the stairs and into his room. He picked up a nearby box, and brought it over to sit on the bed as he opened it up. “Y'know… I’m really glad you chose to do the ballet lessons, Deuce.” He said softly as he handed Deuce a bottle of juice and some apple chips. 

“Really?” Deuce accepted the apple snacks and sat beside Epel. 

Epel nodded. “It’s a lot more bearable with you by my side,” he said with a smile, and then busied himself with opening his bag of apple chips.

“Oh, uh…” Deuce also pretended to look busy as he fiddled with the cap of his juice. “Th-thanks… I think it’s more fun doing things with you, too…” he punctuated that statement by taking a very long and slow swig of his drink.

Epel smiled again, his cheeks turning a light shade of pink as he slowly looked up at Deuce… And then quickly leaned in to press a kiss to Deuce’s cheek.

Deuce promptly began choking on his juice as his eyes widened in surprise. “BFH- WH- HUHGHK?!” he exclaimed ever so eloquently. 

Epel laughed softly and pat Deuce on the back. “Hehe, sorry. Are you alright?”

Deuce sputtered and coughed for a few more seconds before nodding. “Urk- uh, y-yeah, sorry. Just, uhh, a little caught off guard?”

Whatever either of them might’ve said next would be cut short as Vil’s voice called out from downstairs. “PLACES IN 15 SECONDS!”

“Oh! Guess we’d better go,” Epel said as he quickly got up and hurried towards the door.

“Wh-!? Epel! Wait!” Deuce said, getting up to chase after him. “What did- We just- Hang on a second!”

Epel just laughed and ran down the stairs. “Hehe, sorry! Time for practice, Deuce!” He grinned as he rushed to get into position before Deuce could question him further, and before Ace could complain that neither he nor Deuce brought him a bottle back in time.

The nerve, really.

Still, as Vil began to count them in, Epel stole a glance over at Deuce, who looked back at him, face still a bit flushed.

They shared a smile, and practice resumed once more.
